Forefront Sustainability Consultant Speaks at CleanMed

We are proud to announce that Alan AtKisson will give a speech at CleanMed Europe on May 30.

For 17 years, Alan AtKisson has been working in the forefront of sustainability initiatives. He has consulted to well over a hundred cities, companies, government agencies, civic initiatives, foundations, and
non-profit or volunteer organizations; and he has presented hundreds of keynote speeches, seminars, workshops and training sessions, all over the world. On May 30, he will be a keynote speaker at CleanMed Europe, the leading environmental conference for professionals within health care.

Mr. AtKisson started his consultant career as a volunteer. From 1991 to 1995, he was a co-founder and co-chair of Sustainable Seattle, an organisation that eventually became a role model for urban sustainability indicators, recognised with the United Nations. Since then he has been helping to found, lead, design or inspire dozens of sustainability organisations and programs in both the public and private sector.

As founder of the AtKisson Group, an international network of professional consultants, trainers, facilitators, researchers, writers and designers, dedicated to advancing sustainable development, Alan AtKisson works to deliver both value and a commitment to sustainability. He is the author of numerous publications, spanning from academic texts to newspaper columns. The most well-known publication by Alan AtKisson is the widely read introduction to the sustainability movement, "Believing Cassandra: An optimist looks at a pessimist's world" (1999). The book was a bestseller on Amazon.com in the US, and has also been published in Australian and Japanese editions.

Together with his co-workers, Alan AtKisson has invented the Accelerator, a comprehensive toolkit designed to support sustainability initiatives of all kinds. The Accelerator consists of a number of tools for accelerating the shift to sustainability. Among other things, the AtKisson Accelerator can help in orientation and assessment, strategic and collaborative planning, capacity building, change and innovation, and overall management.

In 2006, Mr. AtKisson has taken on the additional task of leading the Earth Charter Initiative, an international effort in support of the Earth Charter. The Charter "does for sustainability what the Universal Declaration on Human Rights did for that movement," notes AtKisson. Created by a high-profile international Commission chaired by Maurice Strong and Mikhail Gorbachev, the Earth Charter has been endorsed by hundreds of prominent international organizations and many thousands of individuals as a defining reference document on the principles of sustainability.

Mr. AtKisson is internationally known for his ability to inspire audiences with a combination of visionary ideas, practical experience and creative expressions. Being an accomplished singer/songwriter, who has produced three CD's of original songs, he also often brings music to his workshops and presentations. His previous record guarantees that his appearance on CleanMed Europe - where he will present what sustainability really is, and how to work for it in the health care sector - will be loaded with knowledge and experience as well as inspiration. Don't miss it!
