Speakers
More and more speakers are confirming their participation in CleanMed Europe. Among the ones who recently signed up are Prof. James Clark, Prof. Bruno Klausbruckner, and Thomas Bergmark.

James Clark is Professor at the Clean Technology Centre at the University of York, UK, which is a world leading research and education centre that aims to promote the development and implementation of sustainable chemistry. Prof. Clark's speech will cover green metrics and the chemical complexity of articles as well as life cycle assessments (LCA) and how healthcare industries can promote the greening of chemistry.

Bruno Klausbruckner is Professor at the Environmental Department of the Vienna Hospital Association. He has been in charge for a step-by-step implementation of an environmental management system (EMS) in 17 hospitals, and he will speak about what results and experiences have been made.

Thomas Bergmark is manager of social and environmental affairs at the IKEA group. He works worldwide with improving IKEA's social and environmental performance. Mr. Bergmark will give a speech named "To Make it Happen in Reality", about how IKEA works with verification, and how verification has been a useful tool for improving performance.

Professor Thorbjörn Laike will give a lecture "The constructed environment's influence on wellbeing" on 29 May. Laike is associated professor in Environmental Psychology and works with research and education at the School of Architecture, Lund Institute of Technology at Lund University.

Speakers!
Michael Mc Keon will give a lecture on Clinical Waste; an Irish example of alternative technology to incineration in the treatment of medical waste and the nurse training for waste minimisation - waste segregation - a return of the incineration threat in Ireland.

Dr. Staffan Castensson will give a lecture on Pharmaceutical Waste: Management Situation in Europe. Dr. Carstensson works for the National Corporation of Swedish Pharmacies and has for over 3 years been involved in different tasks related to the environmental impact of pharmaceuticals.

Viveca Reimers will give a lecture on "Value-Adding of Green Procurement". Viveca is coordinator of Green Procurement at the Region of Västra Götland.

Olaf Bruun Jörgensen will hold the lecture "Hospitals - Monitored Results and Lessons Learned from Five Energy Conscious European Hospitals and Health Care Buildings".
Olaf is technical coordinator for an EU project on energy conscious hospitals.

Bernt Wistrand, Environmental Engineer at the public Stockholm Water Company, will give a lecture about how the Stockholm Water Company managed within six years to remove almost 280 kg of mercury from the city's sewer system, and decrease the levels of mercury in the sludge from the waste water by 55 per cent.

Anders Nilson, Environmental Manager at the company group Bengt Dahlgren AB, will hold a lecture on "System Analysis and Procurement with a Life Cycle Perspective".

Mr. Nilson is responsible for Energy, Environment and R&D at Bengt Dahlgren AB, which is a Consulting Company in HVAC. The company's head quarter is situated in Gothenburg with subsidiary companies in Stockholm, Malmö and Linköping. They are working with all sorts of complex buildings in Sweden and abroad.

Speaker
We are happy to present Anders Wijkman, Member of the European Parliament, as a speaker during the opening session of the conference. Mr. Wijkman sits on the European Parliament’s Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food safety, and was recently appointed MEP of the Year, for showing that the struggle for efficient energy use is compatible with growth and development. Mr. Wijkman’s former positions include Assistant Secretary General at the UN and Policy Director at UNDP, as well as Secretary-General of the Swedish Red Cross. He has also been a member of several government task forces on issues related to environment, sustainable development, energy, and foreign aid.

We are happy to announce that Naturvårdsverket (Swedish Environment Protection Agency) will support CleanMed financially with a contribution of 100 000 skr.

Speaker
Professor Tord Kjellström will give a lecture on Pollution and Health: a Global Perspective during the conference.
Professor Kjellström has 35 years of experience as an academic and international official in Environmental Health, Occupational Health and Epidemiology. He has published more than 300 reports on health effects of toxic metal, air pollution and climate change.
