Some transportation hints that will be helpful upon arrival in Pittsburgh:
From the Airport: A good 30-40 minutes away from Pittsburgh. There is only one terminal. Ground transportation options include the following:
28X Bus: Runs every 20-30 minutes, just outside baggage claim, clearly marked. $2.25 exact change (no receipt is given). Takes about 50 minutes.
Part of the ride is on a road designed only for buses. Bus leaves you across the street from the Hilton.
Shuttle: Sign up at the counter next to the rental cars on the same level as baggage claim. Takes about 35-45 minutes; costs $20; departs about every half hour. Makes stops at Pittsburgh hotels. The Hilton is usually the first stop in the city.
Taxi: About 30-40 minutes. Costs about $40. Pick up is just outside baggage claim and is clearly marked.
Rental car: On the same level as baggage claim. Get the GPS device(!) as Pittsburgh is a city of tunnels and bridges and Road/Route numbers of highways change. Check with the hotel for daily parking fees.
