Designers, planners and managers of healthcare facilities are designing and constructing buildings to better support the health of paitients, staff, and to save money.

An experienced panel of designers and consultants will provide an intensive survey of green building issues focusing on health impacts and application in healthcare facilities. Topic areas include:

  Green building opportunities: Surveying opportunities for incorporating green design elements in health care facility design, setting priorities, and addressing the inevitable institutional obstacles.

  Healthy interiors: Assessing sources and health impacts of emissions from interior finish materials. Manage and avoid problems through testing and monitoring protocols and design strategies.

  Materials and their life cycle: Selecting materials that are good for the environment. How to avoid health impacts throughout their lifecycle.

  Energy efficiency: Saving energy and money while promoting health. Unique challenges/opportunities in saving energy in health care facilities.
