CleanMed 2001 was held on 4 - 5 May 2001 at the Colonnade Hotel in Boston.
Our Mission
Improving the Environment through Health Care-Related Product Choices. In October 2000, leaders in promoting a sustainable health care system met in San Francisco to develop consensus on an environmental agenda. The participants in Setting Healthcare's Environmental Agenda, recognizing that product choices affect human health and the environment, identified five areas in which purchasing choices make a difference:
Mercury Elimination
Worker Health and Safety
Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Plastic Use
Green and Healthy Buildings
Reprocessing of Single-Use Medical Devices
These five areas are the focus of CleanMed 2001, which has two broad goals:
Accelerate the international development and use of cleaner, safer, and high quality medical products by bringing together buyers of healthcare products, vendors, and university researchers.
Create a forum in which these parties can discuss and evaluate the performance of alternative products and polymers.
